Marinduque Loop – The Complete Bikepacking Guide

ree

If you're looking for an unforgettable bikepacking adventure in the Philippines, the Marinduque Loop is the perfect destination. This heart-shaped island offers quiet roads, stunning coastlines, and warm, welcoming communities that make for an ideal cycling trip.

The entire loop covers about 140 kilometers and can be completed in just one day, but for a more relaxed pace, consider spreading it out over two days. The route features a mix of rolling hills and scenic coastal roads, with very little traffic and no stoplights to slow you down.

Getting to Marinduque is part of the adventure. From Manila, you’ll need to travel to Dalahican Port in Lucena, Quezon, where you can catch a ferry to Balanacan Port in Marinduque. The ferry ride takes about three hours, and it’s important to secure your bike properly during the trip.

Accommodation options range from camping for the adventurous to comfortable beachfront bungalows. Staying near Dalahican Port before your ferry ride is convenient, and parking is available either at your hotel or at the port for around 150 pesos per day.

When packing for your trip, remember that any bike setup will work, but be prepared for some rough and gravel roads if you plan to explore beyond the loop. Bring tools and spare parts, plan your breaks, stay hydrated, and protect your skin from the sun.

The best time to visit Marinduque is during the dry season from November to May. Budget-wise, expect to spend between ₱3,000 and ₱6,000 depending on your style of travel.

More than just a bike ride, the Marinduque Loop is a journey through beautiful landscapes,

friendly locals, and memorable experiences. Take your time, enjoy the ride, and make lasting connections along the way.
